Your stay in Botswana, South Africa and the Southern Cape of South Africa ensures to be memorable, but there are a few pointers to know upon arrival. Use the prompt below to get a better understanding.

Leaving from IAD / Dulles Washington, DC. Airline will be determined upon deposit date, individual upgrades and additional baggage are always available once we book your flight.

Your initial stay will be at the City Grand Hotel in Johannesburg! Located adjoining the airport; no need to worry…..your reservations and bookings will already be handled!

Whilst all travelers will leave from Washington IAD / Dulles International airport and arrive in JNB Johannesburg, everyone has options of where they would like to visit on their initial leg. These options include:

October will be the transition from spring to summer in Cape Town; expect daily temperatures in the 60’s to 70’s Fairenheit
The country of South Africa’s national currency is the South African Rand (ZAR), which currently exhanges at a rate of $1 USD to $18.75 African Rand (ZAR). You will be able to exchange currency after the Customs / Immigration process in the airport. Most retailers accept standard VISA, possibly Mastercard / Amex debit credit transactions.
Most people you interact with will speak the English language, with their primary native dialect spoken depending upon the family / tribal heritage of whom you are speaking to.

Day 1: ARRIVE IN JOHANNESBURG FOR AND OVERNIGHT REST BEFORE A SHORT FLIGHT to Botswana

Day 2: Botswana In-Country Immersion

Day 3: Flight To Cape

Day 4: The Wonder of Cape Point

Lets get started with breakfast at 7:00 am. Today is all about the beauty of landscape of Africa. After eating we will take a 2-hour ride to Cape Point. This area marks the southernmost point of the African continent; with breathtaking views guaranteed to immerse.
Important: todays activities will require walking various elevations; bring hiking/walking shoes (required) and sunglasses / hat if desired. Photography is encouraged!!
Mid-Day / Afternoon
We know you will be tired after exploring Cape Point. Lets take a mid afternoon lunch at the 12 Apostles Hotel & Spa in Camps Bay. Another destination for the eyes, this will be a relaxing moment before contemplating moving to Cape Town half on half off. Upon arrival you have around 2 hours or so to relax (spa treatment recommended), then its off to dinner!
Evening / night
Vibrant and Cosmopolitan. These are the words used to describe our nighttime eaterie on day three; Bobo’s. Dinner starts around 7:00 pm. Bring your photos and lets talk about what was surely a rememberable day. Tuesday will be another voyage, full of history and context.

Day 5: Deeper Meaning, Robben Island

Today will be one filled with deeper context and meaning. We will explore the colorful, but torn history of South African culture as we travel to a place notorious for struggle and persecution: Robben Island. The bus for waterfront pier leaves at 8:00 prompt.
Mid morning to late afternoon
Many have heard the story, but few have stood on the grounds and seen the cells, bars and labor yards where Nelson Mandela spent 18 out of his 27 years of imprisonment. Immerse yourself in what was a symbol of the South African apartheid regimes power and human destruction. We will take a boat to reach the 2-mile wide island; about 7 miles off the coast.
afternoon / evening to night
Robben Island will be an intensive experience emotionally and spiritually. After returning to the mainland about 3:00 pm, we will have a late lunch at Cape Grace; a 5-star hotel on Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. From there it is all rest and relaxation. Tomorrow will be the start of another layer to this voyage.

Day 6 : Stellenbosch Awaits

If Tuesday was heavy on the heart, today will be easy on the eyes and soul! Wednesday will be one to remember for all of our food & beverage enthusiasts. Take some time to sleep in as we have a late start. Todays destination: Stellenbosch. We leave around 10:00 am.

After lessons in how to properly “Dine” in Cape, lets take an afternoon tour of Franschoek; featuring centuries old vineyards and Cape Dutch architecture. By this point we all should have hefty appetites, so we finish the day learning how to “dine” in wine country; with a 4:00 dinner being offered at the prestigious Delair Graff Estate.

Day 7: Active Service; A Day of Giving
Morning
On this good Thursday we embark on faith-based missions; giving back to the communities and people of Southern Cape. We start with an early breakfast at 6:30 am.
Mid-day to afternoon
Today will see us to two seperate destinations; both offering faith-based opportunities of service. We will explore the deeper side of life and culture in Southern Cape, offering prayer and hope to the unfortunate and largely unseen.

Child and Youth Care Centre with a mission to take care of babies from birth to two years who have been abandoned, orphaned, neglected or who was born out of an unplanned and crisis pregnancy.

Child and Youth Care Centre dedicated to the provision of residential care to children outside their family's environment; servicing approx. 22 boys between the ages of 12 and 18.
Evening / Night
After a long day of giving and service, we return to the Romney before we come together and receive a blessing of bounty at the Radisson Blue. This will be in a familiar location being the V&A waterfront. This dinner will also be the kickoff to the penultimate G20 Summit. After dinner, rest and relaxation.

It has been a long voyage. This Saturday will be the culmination of events for most. A day with a schedule packed full of programming. There will be intermittent breaks for meals, tea & short recouperation. See the sections below for details.

Day 10: Sowers of the word worship service
Morning
Friday marks a week since travels began. By now the culture and landscape should have settled in. Time for the ministry and outreach that is key to our voyage. Breakfast at the Romney starts around 7:00. Be ready to leave by 9:00, as we have a full day of activities and schedules. Meals and intermittent rest periods in between. See below.

Outreach session at Westlake Primary School. Principal Tracy Peterson-Brown and the staff will be graciously receiving us. This arm of the summit will have donation / giveback opportunities; of which the school has needs for the following:

This worship session will be the first of many for G20; led by our faith facilitator. Session theme is “The source of deliverance / the fourth man in the fire”.

Friday will end somewhat late. Expect activities and sessions to run until about 9:00 pm, when we will retire back to the Romney.
